It’s safe to say that no one who has ever driven a Lamborghini Aventador thought to themselves that it felt a little underpowered, heavy maybe, big maybe but never lacking in oomph.
So obviously, as is the way with the Supercar ecosystem, Lamborghini had to bring out a more powerful S version of their big V12.
The Aventador S gets more power, more aggressive styling, weight reduction and some handling improvements.
Power for the raging bull still comes from the sublime 6.5-liter V-12 (now with cylinder deactivation technology). Output boosted to 730 horsepower (691 before) and 509 pound-feet of torque. The torque curve has also been made flatter, which should lead to an improved response, it will also now rev to 8,500 rpm.
Lamborghini is sticking to their Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) transmission, hopefully with revisions to sort out its uneasiness at slow speeds.
The 0-62 mph time and top speed remain unchanged at 2.9 seconds and 350km/h.
Other upgrades include the new aerodynamics, four-wheel-steering and magnetic dampers, all borrowed from the more extreme Aventador SV.
Pretty cool, comment below.
