A Golf R and Star Trek technology walk into a bar, and what do you get? The Golf R Touch.
Recently launched at CES 2015 in Las Vegas, where the only thing brighter and actually more amazing then the lights and sounds just might be the new Golf R’s touch/gesture/epic interface. Combined with x3 super high resolution screens, a 3D camera and a whack load of touch panels, the technology in the Golf R resembles new touchscreen/gesture technology found in most “Mtv Cribs” houses.
I have recently been blown away by the amazing technology found in the Xbox 360 Kinect system. Yes a bit late, but I am old school like that. The new Golf R Touch brings with the same kind of feeling that one could expect from the Kinect system, one where buttons, knobs and switches are almost completely taken away. One where, sad to say, I might need my nephew to help me navigate my way through the endless customisation and settings available.
As cool as all of this is, do we, as drivers, need it? Gesture controls could make sitting still in this car more fun then driving it? 🙂 PS, what kind of settings would appear when crazy hand gestures are flung around when road rage picks up?
Here is an awesome video that explains how far VW have gone. PS, expect the same thing in all new Audis and Porches.
