With the hatchbacks of the world getting faster and faster and better equipped than most sedans, they really are becoming first choice for most car owners. I mean, what’s not to love? You can squeeze in the same amount of people into a hatch as you can with a sedan.

The boot size might be slightly bigger in a sedan, but with today’s “black-arts design and spatial voodoo”, you don’t really get that much more with most sedans. Then there is performance. The boot size might be slightly bigger in a sedan, but with today’s “black-arts design and spatial voodoo”, you don’t really get that much more with most sedans. Then there is performance. These new generation hatchbacks are firing out some serious horse power and instead of using more traditional front wheel drive, most of them either run power to the rear wheels, or for more confident cornering enthusiasts, four wheel drive. Both are great options.

One car that has clearly become a serious contender for the hatchback elite is the Audi RS3. Now, I know the older one had a weird seating position and some other kinds in it’s German armour, but no one could fault the amazing engine, drive terrain and utter grunt the RS3 produced.

Well that was until the BMW M135 poked its tail from around the corner and the new generation of Golf R has decided to break almost every record, stat and physics rule known to man. But wait, there is a new RS3 peering its headlights over the horizon, and if blog titles have anything to go by, this one will be here next year. Which is only a few months away…

As we don’t know too much about the car just yet, we have managed to source this clip from our favourite fishing hole, YouTube.

Here it is, testing at its home ground, the Nurburgring.

Let us know what you think…

It is pretty obvious that I like cars, wait, LOVE cars, but apart from that, I like to run too. I have a funny feeling that these two interests are somehow related. A bit like coffee and waking up, which are my next two favourite things!
